Q code 6F

I occasionally get a Q code of 6F (or bF) on restart of the PC. It hangs at 6F for several seconds and then just shuts down after closing out windows. So instead of a restart, it just shuts down. Happens 2 or 3 times per week. I noticed it after doing one of the windows updates before reinstallation of windows, but even with this reinstallation it does occur. Machine runs fine otherwise. Any ideas? Thanks.

But it only happens on a restart. Memory is OK per memtest. ??

Hello

As Arne wrote it is due to memory instability. That Memtest passes should not be a surprise as the testing is being done after successful memory training during POST.

Perhaps bump the SAV a bit and watch? Didn't think that would be needed with 2400 memory.

Yes, and you also taught me that each bios handles things a bit differently too. So, I enabled fully manual mode in the bios and dialed in 1.220V for my Vcore thereby eliminating adaptive mode completely. I also bumped the SAV to 0.890V from 0.888V. That small increase in the SAV may stabilize the IMC of the CPU per your other thread on tweaking for 3000 memory. I guess I will just watch it for now. Thanks.

Had another bF Q code this evening. Happens very infrequently and only with a reboot. It just sticks at bF and then shuts down.

I hit the power and went to the bios and increased the SAV another 0.01V. I now have the SAV for this memory at 0.900V. As Praz stated, the memory is OK as I ran memtest 5.01 again-2 passes with no errors.

So, continue to bump the SAV by 0.01V until it's stable? Thanks.

Hello

This type of memory testing utility is pretty much irrelevant on this platform.
