Asus mentioned Q3, and Sweclockers also said ''late summer months''. I think most likely it will release between August and September Q3. Nothing is set in stone yet though.

I had my eyes set on the MG279Q, but since this one has G-SYNC...jesus, gonna be a tough decision: go for the already available and cheaper one, or wait till the more expensive G-SYNC one?

Will both have the same WQHD, 144Hz, IPS panel?

Yes, except the MG279 has Freesync (AMD) whereas the new ROG Swift will have G-Sync (Nvidia) instead.

I've been in a similar predicament with deciding over to wait, or buy now. If there is no release date, then you can be waiting for who knows how long. If there is a release date, then you can actually plan for it.

Computex is happening right now. Perhaps there is info, somewhere in one of their press releases? http://rog.asus.com/422592015/labels...f-gaming-gear/

Then in a couple of weeks there is E3. Perhaps they will post release dates then?

Having already purchased one of the "old" PG278Q Swifts, my concern is whether they'll continue to be available after the improved model hits the streets. Will the 278Q and 279Q work together as "identical" monitors with NVidia multi-display? (I doubt anybody would pay the G-Sync premium on these monitors to run a less constrained multi-display with AMD Eyefinity, lol.)

valid question. Does ASUS ever respond on these forums? Or moderate them for that matter?

I'm not aware of that ever happening on this board; posting or moderating. I've been on here since I bought my monitor back in November. There have been a couple of posters that sound like they might be, but don't have any sort of official name tag to identify them as such. Maybe they are incognito? I dunno.
