Hi all I'm back again with a crazy question. Has anyone removed the VRM heatsink and replaced the thermal pad with thermal paste? Is it ok to do that?

no!
paste is not meant to fill such a huge gap its some-paste is also slightly conductive/captive which will cause a short or other issues which is not good eats 😉
VRM's just run hot 100C is not a problem for most MOFSET's
your options are
1.larger heatsink
2. full coverage water-block

Changing the paste might void your warranty, it will on mine

you could put ceramic paste between the MOSFET and thermal pad, for a slight increase in cooling

Watercooling FTW
