Improving AMD's reference air cooler is going to be a tall order. It doesn't look like there's a lot of room to stuff more heatpipes, a vapor chamber, bigger rads/sinks, or mightier fans onto it - unless perhaps Asus engineers nonreference VRM electricals which are physically smaller. I suspect that extra cooling could only be achieved with liquid, an integrated AIO sort of product with an external radiator.

Yeah, i'm not sure if i should wait for the air cooled fury as well. But i'm not sure that 4Gb of Vram is going to be enough. I Only game at 1440P but I have a feeling that virtual super resolution is going to take advantage of the 8 Gb that offers the 390x. I hope somebody is going to put this new technology to the test soon.

Don_fou_j, I'm currently testing a 980Ti while awaiting delivery of a 390X with a 3 fan cooler. I'll be testing on a 1140p@60hz with vsync if that will help you any. I'm so frustrated with nVidia that I'm almost eager to try an 8gig Fury X on air, if they ever release one.

oh nice! tell me how it goes please! :-) is it the Strix one?

I don't think we are going to see any 8 Gigs fury before next gen... well not with single GPU that is :-( but the next few years are going tp be exiting! :-D but heavy on our wallets :-( lol
