Looking to get a set of 16 or 32 gb of gskill or corsair but seeing that the x99 doesn't play well with memory XMP I want to get to 4.5Ghz (provided I win the lottery) and not be held back bc of memory. Liquid cooling of course.
The motherboard automatically assigns values to the different voltages for your CPU. Normally these values are on the Auto setting which means that they will scale accordingly when you enable the XMP profile for your RAM. ASUS sampled hundreds of CPUs to determine the scaling routines for the Rampage V Extreme. So unless you have a below average CPU, the Auto value is pretty much spot on.
With that said, XMP usually works right of the bat. Sometimes the system fails to boot not because of the XMP but because the Auto values are not working with your particular CPU. As a general rule, the farther you stray from 2133MHz, the higher the possibility that manual tweaking might be required. In most situations, 2400MHz is pretty much plug-n-play and shouldn't hinder you when you're overclocking your CPU. 😛
