Windows 7 Clean Install Activation Problems

Hi guys,

I Just completed a clean install of Windows 7 on my new Asus laptop, but I'm having problems activating Windows 7 using the key on the bottom of my laptop. Tried calling Microsoft to activate it, but they were unable to and told me to either contact Asus or pay $59 to work with one of their technicians. I have 30 days to activate it and the code listed is different from the one on the bottom of my laptop.

Are you sure that you're not trying to activate a different version of Windows 7 (say Ultimate) with a key generated for something lesser (say Home Prem)?
If this is not it then I'm stumped. Have you tried phone activation (you don't actually speak to anyone, just pound a bunch of keys), The key on my sticker didn't work right when trying Internet activation, but did with phone activation.

Wow. Thank you. I had to upgrade from home basic to home premium before making the call. Lol.
