Windows 10/GTX690 4GD5 E_OUTOFMEMORY

Hi,

I am looking for some help, ever since installing windows 10 and the latest Nvidia driver I get an error about 20 minutes into playing a BF4 game.

The notification is quite long but it starts with: DirectX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with E_OUTOFMEMORY

any suggestions to what I can do (besides a role back to windows 8.1)?

thanks

Hello Crasje

While the gtx 690 is a 4gb gpu, it's 2GB for each gpu. I'm pretty sure you're over 2GB of Vram at 1440p and high quality game settings, you can try disabling antialiasing and at worst lowering the screen resolution.

I use precision x to see how much Vram is being used.

but I have been playing with this setup on Ultra for a year+ only after windows 10 + the new driver and this issue occurred :((

So it cant the the fact I have only (ahum) 2GB per GPU, can it?

If it's saying you're out of memory I would say yes you're most likely out of Vram. I haven't tried windows 10 yet but it's possible windows 10 uses more Vram.

I would strongly recommend you to install precision x 16 and use the on screen display to see how much vram is being used.

well I turned anti aliasing off completely and it still crashed.

I read some articles and I am not the only one, its also happening to people using SLI.

Something to do with in what way/type of memory is being used

Was it the NVidia driver that crashed or system crash?

Are you overclocking your gtx 690? What is the temp of your gtx 690?

I would still install precision x 16 to see where you're at with Vram, if you need help I can help you with it.

I am getting the NVidia error I think... I haven't overclocked it, never needed to. Not running maximum resolution either. Will install the VRAM thing tomorrow
, thank you

You're welcome

It's evga precision x 16, make sure you get the latest version where ever you download it from. You can use the on screen display to see information about your gpu while playing games and memory usage is the vram usage. It can show everything you want about your gpu including frames per second.

When you get it installed tomorrow come here, if you need help I'll show you how to use the on screen display. Then we'll know for sure if you're using over 2GB.

Sound good?

This is a known issue affecting alot of nvidia users, as well as sli, I recently installed a fresh windows 10, getting same error with matrix 980's sli, Nvidia is aware of issue and are working on a fix

Yea Nvidia basically broke any SLI format with their windows 10 drivers.
