Maximus VIII - uses LGA 1151 OC?

Hi,

I've seen discussions about the 2011-v3 boards and their OC sockets (with extra pins meant to interface with Intel diagnostic pins). I've read in older posts from Asus reps that the Z170's would have the OC sockets.

I've also seen there's some worry that Intel won't allow RMA of defective chips that used the OC pins...though, I don't know how they'd tell!

So, my question, does the Maximus VIII or even other Z170 boards a) have the OC pins (socket has more than 1151 pins), and b) do any feature of the motherboard (i.e. some OC feature, I'd expect) rely on these pins?

If Intel started sending chips without the extra pins, would they still work in a MB that has the OC socket?

Thanks,

Ambi

No OC socket plans for M8 series - we tried it, no help for OC on this platform, so boards will be without. Even if it were there, Intel removing the pins or not would cause no difference to the board working. Intel won't remove said pins anyway as they need them.

OK, thanks!

Now all I need is for Intel to start stocking the 6700K's in the US!

Cheers,

Can i ask why you want to upgrade to the 6700K, as your i7 4770K OC @ 4.6 GHz is faster.
