Z170 boards support 64GB...but how fast? Seen any reviews?

Hi,

I normally fill my slots with the most memory I can when building a rig. In the case of the Z170's (mine is a M8H) it is said they will support 64GB. I am considering getting 32G for now, and another 32 later. But I can't find 16GB sticks that are rated faster than, maybe 2400.

I know as there gets to be more memory and larger sticks on a motherboard you can't speed it up too much, and I can certainly buy some 16GB @ 2133 and try to overclock them. But how far will I get? All the reviews I've seen so far show 16GB (4 x 4GB) kits.

If anyone knows vendors who sell the 16GB single sticks for Z170, let me know. Also, please let me know if you have seen reviews or benchmarks of 64GB builds on Z170 (hopefully ROG) MBs.

Thanks,

-Ambi

P.S. PM me if sending vendor info is frowned on in open forum.

You'd be best advised to wait until single 64GB kits binned for Z170 are available, if you want to run 64GB with less hassle.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

Well, I've seen some 32GB kits from various vendors...they're advertising 3000 speed kits, but only 2133 or 2400's are in stock!

So, my original question is still on the table, sort of. How well can I overclock a 2133/2400 X 32GB kit?

My real gating factor is when I can get the 6700K. How does Europe have them first? Are they sitting on them in the US to give Europe a few weeks of sales, or are they still manufacturing more for US distribution?

Cheers,

Ambi

on the CPU's you have to ask intel.
ram is OC'd when it goes past 2133mhz on this platform.
all in all its down to the CPU on how much ram and how stable it will be in the end.
