I find this to be true. I always have to do this no matter what bios version I am running. 1601 is running great for me but I need to do some more testing. no hang ups yet.

I'm moving my question to this thread. I believe I originally posted it in the wrong place.

Regardless, does anyone happen to know if the 1601 BIOS is intended (and/or suitable) for the Rampage V Extreme/U3.1 as well? Yesterday I discovered its existence (but didn't pay attention to the fact that I was on the RVE support page, and not the RVE/U3.1 support page). I was hoping it might clear up a couple of minor issues I was having, so I flashed it to my RVE/U3.1 board. It was only later that I discovered that the RVE/U3.1 support page doesn't even list 1601 as an available option, which makes me wonder if 1601 is intended ONLY for the RVE non-3.1.

So, I've had 1601 installed now for about 24 hours. Everything seems to be stable but I'm still wondering if I should flash back to 1502 as a safety precaution. Just wondering if any other RVE/U3.1 users have tried this new BIOS.

    Thanks.

    Hey guys,
after flashing 1601 Win7 asks for reactivation. When I switch back to 1501 Win7 keeps activated.
Is anybody experiencing similar? Can I make some changes in BIOS (Secure Boot stuff or whatever) to avoid this?

You are right, i also found out that i had flashed 1601 to the Rampage V Extreme/U3.1.
The difference that i noticed is that in tool/gpu post, show only the second titan x in slot 3 in red letters, this is not the case with bios 1502.
I think, it is better to return to 1502 for now.

Flashed and no problems to report after 2 days using Win 7 x64, i7-5960x, 780/SLI. Applied same clocks and tuning as previous bios without problems. If anything seems to accept settings that failed with previous bios. No Win 7 re-activation issues.

Had the same issue..:But 100% fail with boot, except if I jumped to BIOS first and then exit with F10, it booted fine.

I tested the 1601 with the same settings as the 1502, SPI 32M does not pass (HyperPI 32M passes ...)
    Back to 1502

dunno how they manage to screw it up then try and blame us for an unstable OC.

Just an FYI ... (as if this wasn't already obvious to most of you ... ) I submitted a support ticket yesterday to Asus, asking for some definitive word on whether the 1601 BIOS was suitable for the RVE/U3.1. The response I just got back is that the 1502 BIOS is the one recommended for that board ... just as onnovampire suggested. OK. I've learned my lesson and now I'm back on 1502. Feeling much better.

New bios 1601 seems to have problem with tool/gpu post feature in the bios menu regardless of R5E, R5E/3.1 mainboard, after I flashed bios from 1502 to 1601, 1601 bios failed to recognize installed my ASUS Strix GTX970 SLI card, even though I tried to reinstall 2 GTX970 card serveral times, It recognized only 1 GTX970 card in slot3 with red letters (I have normal R5E). I've never seen this kind of issue with old bios, I found GTX970SLI was working properly after boot to win10, but I am still wondering if the issue affect GTX970 SLI performance and makes another issue.
I think, at this time 1502 old bios may be more stable than 1601 bios for the R5E,R5E/3.1 mainboard
