I am not posting speeds since they may differ from card to card.
What do you mean by adaptive though, because I only see Performance, then the middle is Balanced, then the final option is Quality.

Power Management mode: adaptive vs maximum performance.

My desktop temperature is 51 with adaptive mode, but last days we have 28-30 C ambient temp.

I thought baseline is 60C before fans turn up.

I'm using two Strix GTX 980 Ti DC3 versions. Got lucky with them. Even with base clocks of 1000MHz they boost to 1392MHz which is quite good given that they have reference base clocks. My cards at idle remain between 40-50ish. I live in hot area with out any AC. But now a days winter is upon us and ambient temps are in the range of 28-31C.

These cards get high temps under stress tests. I'm playing with fan curve under MSI AB. With custom fan curve my one card is at 67ish while the other is at 77ish in SLI under stress test (with overclock of +100 MHz) but this is with one compromise - Noise. Still checking for best settings for fan curve. With +100MHz base clock offset, the boost is 1493 MHz.

For air flow, I've replaced the front two intake fans on Corsair 760T with Noctua NF-A14 and same fans have been installed on the Corsair H110i GT. Temps are good. My system idles at 33-34ish. While gaming, it reaches to 46ish with +/-. I'll post my custom fan curve settings once I am able to achieve optimal combination of performance and noise. Click image for larger version.

Yes it is, and the point is that the effectiveness of the (passive) cooling solution can be measured by idle temperatures. You have no load and your card is running in the 50s? Thats clearly worse than another card running 10-20C cooler without fans on.

The Strix seems to idle very high while the G1 and MSI cards run much lower. I have seen two G1 980tis run at 41C idle. Both solutions are 0 decibel until gaming starts and I have even played light games on the G1 without the fan turning on because there is a bit of headroom to play with starting from 41 instead of 50 something.
