    Would a generic 9.5mm ODD caddy fit a G751?

Would a generic HDD 9.5mm caddy fit in the ODD in the G751?

Also the speed of the ODD is SATA I right?

This looks like the one I use. 9.5mm is the one you need. The speed is Sata 2, max about 250 Megabyte/s.

The speed is based on the port not the accessory caddy. The caddy is nothing more than a tray and extension.

True, its all in the port. Even if you managed to find a Sata III caddy it would only run at the speed of the port. My port on my G752JL is only 1.5 Gbps Sata I which equates to just under 200MBps data trasnfer rate. Just love how they inflate the numbers to make it look good everything is rated in bits except transfer rates and file sizes that are in bytes. At any rate the USB 3.0 is faster so a compliment of external drives would have better performance.
