Also don't forget to burn the Linux in UEFI Mode... Maybe it's that your problem. Over mine have dual boot and no problems at all. Linux Mint 17.2 and Windows 10.

UEFI is basically BIOS v2.0 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unifie...erface#Booting
A different 'boot loader' is needed. This isn't 100% accurate technically, but gets the just of it across full details can be found above. You can also google guides for your particular distro.

Ok, so don't know how to burn in UEIF mode... but I've disabled fast boot and that fixed some of the issues, but the installer still isn't recognizing the partitions.....

I understand. If I was skilled enough to answer any of these questions myself I'd probably want the same thing =P
So I've decided for now to just give up on dual booting and try a VM. I'll get back to trying when I know a bit more and have a bit more free time. But now I can't seem to find the answer to this question (After researching it myself I've found answers for similar ones, but none for my specific question):
If I run some form of Linux in a VM (I've chosen virtualbox), Can I get a windows virus from it? or is the linux OS completely separate from Windows? ex: If I download something in Linux that would normally give me a windows virus would I contract that virus on my windows side?
Thanks again for all the help!
