I'm searching every hour to see if its up for sale yet in the United States.

I think I'll just leave this thread open in my browser in hopes that someone else here will be keeping a lookout (and posting about it), too.

This MoBo is the last piece I need for my new computer build.

No HDMI 2.0 according to the specs in the press release :-(

Seems a shame as the Z170-DELUXE offers that (not sure if it also offers HDCP 2.2 though).

As long as the needed hardware is included on the board I suppose a firmware update could add HDMI 2.0 and even HDCP 2.2. As far as I understand this means the board has to have Alpine Ridge -> Thunderbolt 3 -> LSPCON. Can anyone confirm if this is the case?

I was just relaying what Anandtech reported a while back and what has been observed on the market so far. This looks to be the first non-Gigabyte board with Alpine Ridge to enter the market.

Alpine Ridge can act as the LSPCON, so it gets the DP1.2 directly from the CPU and outputs HDMI 2.0 w/ HDCP 2.2. Source: http://www.anandtech.com/show/9485/i...vga-supermicro

There are dedicated LSPCON chips that can do the same without the other I/O that Alpine Ridge has, as well.

But, you don't need and HDMI 2.0 port if you're going to have any sort of dedicated GPU (you'll need to wait until AMD's next gen card for them to have HDMI 2.0).

    Pricing?

I am hoping that the price isn't over the top. Would anyone care to guess what the price of the two boards might be? Are all of the old Asus Maximus Extremes in the same price range at launch? I hope its less than the flagship Gigabyte Board that started at 500. Although that the Gigabyte is now around 460 which is starting to look better and better to me because of the wait.I hope October 2nd is the real release day. The wait is killing me. Why doesn't Asus want my money?
