    GL551JW upgrade optical to Blu-Ray

I'm interested in upgrading my GL551JW optical drive to Blu-Ray R/W.
What model Blu-Ray is my best bet? I was considering the LG BT30N.
I'm looking for something that will work with the existing face plate.
Does anyone have experience with this?

    Thanks,
    -EEichCT

The specs say the 551 already has a blu-ray drive. The bt30 does have a removeable bezel so it should work with your bezel assuming you have space for a 12.7 and not a 9.5 it should fit but im pretty sure the 551 has a 9.5 height drive in it.

Thank you for your reply, but...
The GL551JW specs do not show Blu-Ray... nor does my laptop play or write them.
    Still looking for guidance.

I cant make it any easier then you removing a single screw and measuring the current drive. Seriously thats like less thean the time it takes you to post a reply.

unscrew the screw the line points at and pull it out to measure it

It will most likely measure 9.5 like i said so you will need to find an 9.5mm height blu ray drive that you want to install.
