Performance drop on G751JY after Nvidia drivers 358.50

So it looks like the screen discoloration from 355.98 is fixed, but now the 980M isn't being utilized fully (at least in Firestrike).

Ran these tests within a few minutes of each other, only difference being the driver version -
New drivers: http://www.3dmark.com/fs/6178045
Old drivers: http://www.3dmark.com/fs/6178116

MSI Afterburner indicated GPU usage never progressed beyond 50-60% in the new drivers (as opposed to 99-100% with the old drivers).

Guys, this is a problem with your personal installs and not the drivers. I have noticed since switching from AMD to nVidia that I need to use Display Driver Uninstaller between each driver version or I get weird things like DX errors and clock issues like you guys are experiencing. Since I used DDU between the last ones and these ones I have absolutely no issues. I just ran Fire Strike on my G751JY 980M and I got the same score as with the 355.98 drivers and 98~99% utilization the whole time.

Performance for me actually increased. The problem is that people don't use Display Driver Uninstaller and then complain about issues or performance!

I use DDU and download clean drivers from Nvidia's website for all my installs to avoid issues with GeForce Experience, but thanks for being presumptuous I guess. I'd say the problem is that people assume and make an ass out of u and me, but that's neither here nor there.

For anyone actually trying to solve the problem, this thread on the Nvidia subreddit indicates that it might be an issue with G-Sync: https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/3o5qxh/35850_drivers_if_u_have_gsync_monitor_and_play/

Regardless, 355.82 has worked splendidly for me so I'll stick with that.

Agreed. I upgraded to 358.50 and faced fps drop on my machine.

Used DDU and above package and reinstalled 355.82. Took 10 minutes.

liviutatarus : Grab nVidia inspector and get that extra bit of juice from your system!

It is enough performance, I prefer to leave things as they are 🙂
