no "voice" in a song without environment effects???

So im trying to play some music and the instruments sound great but i cant hear the people singing without turning environment effects on which i dont like anyone knows whats up? havent used the card in a long time it used to work just fine about a year ago lol.. had to install the software again since i didnt have the drivers for windows 10

Are you talking about the Xonar Phoebus?
What drivers did you install?
What is your setup, what speakers and/or what headphones(set)?
How did you connect those speakers/headphones(set)?
What are your settings in the Xonar and Windows control panel?
What did you try already to solve this issue?
Describe your problem as detailed as possible
