    set up in sli mode

I have some concerns regarding this card's thickness.
I saw the live stream of this card, JJ placed it on the m8e just to give us an idea of how it looks. I currently have a m8e and would like to place 2 of those on it. however in the video and when placed on the board, it looks like the matrix covered a lot of space because its thick, I'm not sure but i think it reached the second pcie16x_2.
I'm worried because would like to place 2 of those in my set up, so basically 1 will go in pcie16x_1, second in pcie16x_3 (which will run at 8x)>
I have a xonar phoebus sound card, will I be able to plug it in the pcie_4 slot or the second matrix card will eat up the space? The standard space between each pcie is 2cm, the matrix card's thickness is 5cm, does it mean if I use 2 of those i will cover my last pcie16_4 and won't be able to plug my sound card in it? if not will there be space and is it possible to plug it in the pcie1_1 between the 2 cards? thanks for answering

Usually if peope want x16 SLI they go on processors with 40 PCI-E lanes.
    Intel i7-6700K have 16, dual x8.
Board have 3x PCI-E 16 slots. I suppose you can choose them how do you want... I didn't look manual for board.
But if you install cards in 1 and 2 SLOT than you can use one small for dedicate sound card.

Maybe this picture help you... ASUS GTX980Ti Matrix SLI on ASUS Maximus VIII Extreme

It's very hard to imagine for owners of Maximus VIII Extreme to choose something else near 980Ti Matrix.
That's same series. Gene, Hero, Extreme owners should go on Matrix.

Looks like she is triple slot card... Huge card... even E-ATX board look small compare to PCB...
But maybe will fit sound card with two of them...

Well, my concerns were right. the card's thickness is 2.5 compared to other cards 2.0, so if you have an m8e u plug the matrix 980ti in the first PCIe16x_1 you will not be able to use the second PCIe16x_2. If You want to put 2 cards then u have to use PCIe16x_1 and PCIe16x_3, however when u plug the second card the PCIe16x_4 will be covered and you will not be able to use it. Bye bye Sound Card.
In addition, you will need a 3Way Sli bridge, if you own the ROG 3Way Sli bridge it will not work because the Matrix 980ti is so thick that its cover will hit the pins on the Sli Bridge you will have to buy another model that fits or just mod ur card by cutting the area that hits the pins.
Really I wonder how and why then ended up with that design.

Yes I saw cards are really beautiful.
For me one would be enough. That would be great build with Rampage 5 Extreme until GP100.
This is biggest and most powerful ASUS GeForce with highest clock they every launch.
if EKWB decide to leave this card without waterblock... than I have no comment, really.
But to be honest card have these LEDs,
black color on side and nice backplate, I would keep at least 1-2 months on Air to satisfied self with this powerful look.

    And Vortez have unboxing video...
