MAXIMUS VIII HERO: BSOD Cannot install windows 10 pro.

I recently bought pc parts in amazon and built it. My problem is that I ALWAYS get bsod when I boot PC with usb memory stick of Windows 10 pro install data, and I cannot even start windows install.

[Configuration]
- CPU: i7-6700k
- Motherboard: ASUS MAXIMUS VIII HERO
- RAM: CMK16GX4M4A2666C16 -> 4GB x 4
- Graphic Board: MSI GTX 980 GAMING 4G
- PC Case: NZXT Middle Tower H440 ( H440W-BGR )
- SSD:Transcend SSD 512GB 2.5inch SATA3 6Gb/s TS512GSSD370S
- CPU Cooler: LEPA Water CPU Cooler( Exllusion240 LPWEL240-HF )
- PSU: Corsair RM850i ATX 80PLUS GOLD 850W ( PS565 CP-9020083-JP )
- OS:Microsoft Windows 10 Professional 64bit

[What I tried]
- Remove graphic board
- Remove 3 out of 4 RAMs and leave one RAM on A2 slot
- Update BIOS to 1001.
- Do "Load Optimized Default" on BIOS
- Run memtest86+ on 1RAM -> no error

[BSOD I faced]
- MEMORY MANAGEMENT
- IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL
etc.etc...

Hope this problem solved asap...

Thanks.

Hello macco

Welcome to the ROG forum.

The Corsair Vengeance LPX ram was designed for the x99 platform and I believe this is where your problem lies. Try a ram kit that is designed for your motherboard such as G.Skill Trident Z.

Hello

As Nate notes above X99 binned memory can be problematic and may require manual tuning even running at default 2133MHz speeds. Also, other than identifying a module that is close to dead Memtest86 is pretty much useless anymore.

I was getting similar problems on the Maximus VIII Ranger - same BSOD Memory_Management and IRQ errors on windows 10 install via USB key. So I was suprised the following has worked for me

Try this

1. BIOS -> Tools --> Format the SSD there
2. Clean install windows 10 with USB key

Both times this way - no issues - system running x 1 week - stable. In between I had tried Windows 8 and a upgrade install to windows 10 which was a no-go, constant BSOD or various errors.
I thought I had bad memory or a defective MB, not sure why but it seems to work at least for me this way.

Something is screwy with disk management with this ASUS chipset is my theory.

Thank Nate152, Praz, cybershawngates!

I format SSD and try clean install windows 10 with USB key. But, it doesn't change. I always get BSOD...

If I buy new RAMs, will F4-3000C15D-16GTZB be a good choice?

I think it will be a very good choice

When installing from a windows dvd it sets a partition and you format it there, at least I do. I've never installed windows from a usb stick, I always used the dvd.

If you've tried what cybershawngates suggested and still get BSOD's, the ram kit you listed is a good choice to get. 🙂

Did you try to look what your first boot are?

Thanks all.

I bought F4-3000C15D-16GTZ and put them on A2 and R2.
But, it didn't solve problem.

What I tried:
* 1st Try
- clear CMOS by CMOS button on motherboard.
- boot PC with Win10pro install usb stick
-> always bsod

* 2nd try
- Do "Secure Erase" for my SSD.
- do the same process as 1st Try
-> allways bsod

* 3rd try
- Detach my SSD and make partition and quick-forrmat for my SSD using my notebook PC.
- Put my SSD on my desktop PC back.
- do the same process as 1st Try
-> allways bsod

Any suggestion?
