4x Titan X's + 950 Pro M.2

In the process of building this behemoth of a rig and will be recieving my gpu's sometime today. But the last item still to get is the 950 Pro, and would like to know the following:

I've heard some reports the 950 Pro gets rather warm, and wondered will i have any issues being beneath 4x gpu's?

Having 40 lanes is awkward, will using a 950 Pro effect overall performance of my gpu's by a large margin?

Thankyou for your time...

You may as well forget the 4th card as it's speed will be crippled by the 950

Hold on, wouldn't the 4x cards be @ x8 on each anyway leaving 8 lanes left? So technically i wouldn't lose bandwidth at all....hmm

Update: Seems they would x16 x8 x8 x8 on rampage v extreme, so maybe i would be ok if i adjust the pci_e lane to x8 on 1st card?

Four Superclock Titan X's is ballin'. I know you do not want to hear it, but 3 GPU's with room for the new super-fast PCI-e NVMe storage platform would do you best.

Why are you going with the 1601 version of the R5E?

Just recieved it mate so it's got that on it

Not sure if the m.2 is worth it, since i have 2x vertex 4's in Raid 0 that do 1000Mb/s as it is, not like i'd notice much apart from maybe boot speed. Plus horsepower is everything given the resolution i'll be running, which is 11MP btw lol

Hey Mhill2029,

The difference could be seen in synthetic benchmarks. In real life, i wouldn't recommend a 950 pro (even though the drive is rock solid) in your case. It seems like you have the money but it wouldn't do you much good since you already have a raid0 that is powerful enough.

Nice thinking but still won't work. The last slot shares the bandwidth with the M.2 slot.

You can't have 4 cards and a m.2 card. It's not possible. The 4th pcie lane is shut down and taken over by the m.2

Good news though, we can put cards in the last slot that shares with M.2 as long as the card is X4 or lower and not graphic cards.

Based on this, RAID0 is hello gimped compared with the NVME M.2 dtive:

https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?78589-RVE-And-Samsung-950-Pro-Results-Benchmark

I get similar results with my Intel 750. 2,500 MB/sec transfer rates are rather large in comparison to 1000 MB/sec.

That or Max is correct that a shiney benchmark does not mean shiney day to day operation.
