    Yeah I'm not into hacking and I really don't know how to hack and don't want to know lol, so I took the plunge and upgraded. Now I'm just waiting for a good directx 12 game to play. Star citizen looks like it would be a good game but I won't pay anything more than the price of a game to play it.

    This one looks like it would be good.

    I've upgraded five of my own PC's to Win10 to date.
    Three of them were Win 8.1 and two Win7 sp1 (three gaming laptops, two gaming desktops).
    So, I've been used to Win8 GUI however, I always used "classic shell" with Win8 to duplicate Win7.
    I've decided to not install 'classic shell' on Win10 because I believe Win10 will be a force to be recognized by business and multi platforms.
    I need to adept to Win10 nuances in the GUI with all that jazz about multi platforms as it will be the dominate MS business OS

    Windows 10 works well with Firefox (I don't use Chrome much)
    Windows 10 is backwards compatible with most anything from Windows 7, Windows 8 as MS demanded it to be WHQL for major components.

    Personally, I have found Win10 to be just as fast as Win8 in general task and gaming performance.

    I guess I will go blind or die before I get see what Windows 10 is like. EK now says they sent the wrong O-ring to PC Performance. . ..

    EK is a deplorable company and should not be patronized by good people.

    Nate, I just found out that once you buy a game package, you never have to pay another red cent to play Star Citizen. Game packages start at $45, which include the cheapest ship, and the price goes up from there for better ships. So you can buy the cheapest ship with real money, never pay another dime, and get better ships with in-game money. *sticking tongue out at Nate*

    I am rather looking forward to that. . ..

    If you get a ship now, you get free LTI (lifetime insurance), meaning that you will not have to spend in-game money on insurance for being able to replace your ship every time I turn it into stardust.

    If you are nice to me, I will tell you which ship to get for $50 that will do you best for starting out.

    When you get a game package, you will be put into the "Squadron 42" game, which is the precursor game for Star Citizen. It is like going into the military as a young person and learning everything by doing about 70 missions. Then you get bumped up to SC. You will also have access to "Arena Commander" which is all about dog-fighting and racing PVP-style.

    Star Citizen Alpha 2.0 is about to be released, within a week or two, to everyone, and it starts the first-person-shooter part of the game. When the game is fully released sometime next year, you and your real-life buddies will be able to fly in the same ship; chase someone; land on a planet while chasing them; all of you jump out of your ship, while all talking to each other with headsets in real-life, and shoot up the real people you are after; then steal THEIR ship and leave the solar system using jumpdrive or through a wormhole that you have previously charted . . . all without having to wait on any noticeable load-screens!

    So after gaming on windows 10 for a while I've come to the conclusion it's not as good as windows 7 at least right now. I get pretty bad stuttering when there is high action scenes or a bunch of bodies laying around, I never got this with windows 7 and this is with far cry 3. For the most part performance is good but it's not like windows 7 was. So I contacted Microsoft and told them the performance problem I was having and they said to download the November update, it's more or less just like installing windows 10 all over again but after I downloaded it, it said once I run this update I can no longer go back to windows 7 so I cancelled it.

    I don't know if the update will fix this problem, if I knew for certain it would I would go ahead with it but if it doesn't I don't want to get stuck with something I'm not happy with but I do want the directx 12 feature which I have yet to try.

    So what to do? Is anyone else having a similar performance problem after upgrading from windows 7 to windows 10?

    I like Windows 10 but I'm not sure if it's to do with Windows 10 or my system, some say it's to with Intel MEl version 11.0.0.1155. Since moving onto Windows 10 I have been getting intermittent shutdown problems. Never had the shutdown problem on Windows 8/8.1. Sometimes the screen goes blank before the shut down option, the keyboard and mouse leds and the computer are still on. Sometimes, after shutting down, the keyboard and mouse leds and computer are still on and I have to cold shut it down. Is anyone else having that problem?

    No issues for me with W7 or W8 upgrading to Win10 to date on my 5 systems upgraded (not fresh installs).

    I've always believed double the ram of the norm was best suited for my needs.

    4K = 64
    2K = 32
    1080 = 16

    The Operating Systems goes down this way on games,
    GPU working with CPU
    CPU working with GPU
    then consider
    RAM
    then consider
    Virtual Memory off the SSD (or HDD worst)
    then consider
    SSD speed or HDD speed

    I still max everything on my sig with no lag/stuttering or otherwise issues. I max them out on my laptops because they have plenty of ram and a SSD for cache

    Hey coyi1895

    I haven't experienced anything like that since upgrading to windows 10. My cpu overclock needed another .05v but other than that everything seems good.

    Hey sk2play

    I think I'm good to go for a little while yet, I'm anxious to see how much of a performance increase directx 12 brings. Normally you'd have to get the new gpu to get the new directx feature so in a way I kind of look at windows 10 giving me a free graphics upgrade and a new operating system for free too, how could one not go for that.

    So a little update to my performance problem, Windows 10 is directx 12, Windows 7 is directx 1l. Now with directx 11 when you set directx in far cry 3 to directx 9 you get a little performance increase, we all know that. I still have a decent pc and always played in directx 11, somehow directx got changed to directx 9 in my game settings, after setting it back to directx 11 it's all good now.

    So what I've found is directx 9 performs crappy on windows 10. With the way directx was before you'd think directx 9 would play better but it does not.
