    PC CASE:
    Lian Li X2000

    Operating system:
    Windows 10 Pro x64 activated

    Drivers Installed (include version):
    Newest from Asus site.

Any third Party temp/voltage software installed:
    No

    System Overclocked (provide details)?
    Yes, delta from stock:
    -36x multiplier (all cores) - 4.5GHz, 125MHz bus speed @1.25VCORE
-XMP profile (System Agent Voltage not tempered with - all auto)
-Other BIOS optimizations (e.g Boot, PCIe, etc..).

    Issue or wish:

I would like to try out 100MHz Bus speed and keep all the DDR settings which are set using the XMP profile.
Ok, I tried playing with it a bit, but have a feeling I missed something. Do you guys have a any general advice you can share, give me some pointer on what are the settings I should focus on?

Thanks and hope hearing from you soon.

I've been meaning to ask about this. I've read in several places that if your DDR4 memory is faster than 2400Mhz, your system defaults to 125 BCLK. I am running my GSKILL Ripjaws 2666 Mhz memory with XMP settings, and my BCLK has never changed to 125. Should I do so?

    I'd like to hear more.

Whenever I set XMP for DDR4 2666 then manually set the BCLK to 100, bad bad things happen and the safe boot button is required. Love that button.

Anyone care to explain? Is it just best to give into the 125 strap and learn to love it?

    Hey,

The 100mhz strap is much harder to stabilize (but possible) over 2400/2666mhz. Hence why you must use the 125mhz (like 99% of others here) to make it easier to stabilize. I have been able to stabilize mine with 3000mhz but saw no difference in performances or whatsoever. It was harder to overclock cache and cpu for me so i ended up going back to the 125mhz strap which gives me the ability to run a cache and core @ 4.2ghz, which is far more important than having your strap @100mhz.

I set XMP then changed the blk to 100 and then scrolled down to the ram speeds and set them back to 2666.

    Job done.

As I said, never got set to 125 and had no issues enabling xmp at 2666. Guess I got lucky? Any advantage to be gained by trying it anyway if ive been fully stable?

    Hey Qwinn,

Being @2666 (timings?) and having a 100 strap isn't that "lucky". It may mean your other settings are spot on such as vcore, cache voltage and system agent. Your IMC can do it, then leave it. If you start having problems use the 125 strap. There's no performance advantages per say. You may have more trouble overclocking your cpu though.

I was able to stabilize my G Skill 3000 ram with a 100hz strap. It just takes a bit more tweaking of the system agent voltage. In my case it needed a bit more juice.

I've done what Gonzo suggests, but usually fail to post or stick on an an error code. I haven't tried with the "more powah" approach yet.

Again thanks for the advice Max. I might try doing a 125 profile. But at the minute moment I'm pretty deep into all these new games our.

    Hey Lordo59,

Just so you know, more power to the system agent doesn't mean it is going to work. I do not know how many times chino, raja and others have told me this but, the sys agent sweet spot is where you want it to be. If your IMC can't do it in the system agent sweet spot, then it can't. Not all IMCs are created equals. Fizzling around with the 100 cpu strap is a waste of time , considering it gives nothing much. If you're doing it "just to try" then have fun! That board is a jewel to work with. Make sure your bios is up to date as it might help if you have problems.
