Don't think ASUS cares about this problem. They probably hope you will go and buy a ASUS soundcard instead. I have had this problem since the first day with my Maximus VIII Hero.

Did you test it with a ZxR? It is a different board than the Z. If it also happens with other Creative cards then it's maybe driver related.

My SoundBlaster Z works great in windows 10 home x64, no problems at all. But Creative do advise not to put the SoundBlaster Z in a PCI-E X16 slot because that is reserved for Graphics Cards, although I have never had any issues in a PCI-E X16 slot with an Asus P9X79 mainboard. In the Asus Maximus Hero 8 I have my SoundBlaster Z in the PCIEX1_3 slot and it works great with zero problems and the latest windows 10 x64 driver package from the official Creative website.

Sounds funny, but did you ever play a game more than 1h with this config? And did you deactivate the onboard sound in the UEFI? In my case the shutdown problem only occured after longer gaming sessions. I tried multiple pciex slots including 1_3 but had no luck. When I switched to the Asus Strix Raid DLX the problem was gone, but I returned the card due to horrible noises on the headphones and speaker out due to GPU coil whine (EMI shield seems to be pretty bad on the asus card). Now I will try out the SB ZxR

I played Tom Clancy's The Division closed beta and open beta for those two weekends, I can't remember exactly how many hours straight in one session though? but I would say I am sure I played in the dark Zone for at least one and a half to maybe two hours straight, you might be on to something there maybe, I will admit I don't normally play one hour of gaming straight, I like to play at extreme leisure (getting old), sometimes I just leave the game running and go eat and drink for 10-20 mins then come back.

EMI shield seems to be pretty bad on the asus card.
My SoundBlaster Z is an OEM version, it has no EMI shield and no gold Nichicon caps, it is just a basic stripped down SoundBlaster Z.
