Will my laptop work with SATA or NVME? Basically it boils down to whether or not I'd get the Samsung 860 EVO (SATA 3) or Samsung 960 EVO (NVME)

    Thank you
Link to your user manual you should find the answer in there as to what your M.2 port or ports will support https://www.asus.com/us/ROG-Republic...lpDesk_Manual/

I wanted to follow up by saying that as had been recommended, I purchased a SATA3 M.2 SSD - in this case, the Samsung 860 Evo M2 SATA 3 drive, and it is now installed and works great in my GL752VW.

Glad to hear it worked out and thanks for letting us know.
Yes, it's really worth it to switch from a mechanical boot hard drive to really any kind of SSD drive for the faster boot up and shutdown times in my opinion as long as you can figure out how to transfer your Windows image over.
