G751: Using M.2 plus 1st SATA bay

Hi everyone.

I would just like to ask if someone has already experiences in using M.2 SSD and a 1st bay SSD.
The reason I ask are the following thoughts:
A friend of mine wanted to upgrade an very old Notebook with a SATA-SSD. He was excited and ordered one online.
When he tried to upgrade the Laptop, he noticed that it has only IDE connectors :eek::eek:.
He bought then a tiny SATA-IDE adapter and wanted to install it.
Of course there is not enough space to install both in a row, so he cracked the case of the SSD and looked at the internals of the SSD.
Guess what: the SSD was way smaller than the case and he was happy in installing it.

I tell you this story because there are some small SSDs out there, eg Half Slim SATA SSD Modules, which might fit into the remaining space if you have a m.2 installed.

Do you think if those fit physically you can technically use both devices at the same time? Ow the 2nd SATA is already blocked by a classic HDD.

Regards,
B

I am very sorry, but I do not understand how this 3D printed bracked allows to use M.2 drives and 1st SATA bay at the same time?

Well if you took a few minutes to read the thread he linked you you would have seen this and read that many people have used one of my 3d printed brackets to fit both a m.2 and 2.5 ssd in the same bay.

3d printed parts and accessories for the G751. You know you want something better than OEM ->https://www.shapeways.com/shops/aeolisio[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

If you read the thread it is all explained the bracket is not necessary, it is helpful keeping the drives in correct alignment and separated from each other
