Can I use the new Asus AC88U as a "Wifi Adapter" in order to get 4x4 MU-MIMO?

So my question is a router can be set as "wireless adapter" right? Like instead of using it as a "router", I can use it as a wifi adapter right?

So my plan is to buy 2 x AC88U and use one of them as a 4x4 MU-MIMO adapter. Do you guys think this would work?

The reason why Im getting 2 x AC88U is because they are 4x4 MU-MIMO so if I used one of them as an "adapter", then I have myself a 4x4 MU-MIMO, since there's no 4x4 MU-MIMO adapter on the market atm.
