TridentZ is top of the line, better quality memory.

For Z170 platform Trident Z, or Ripjaw V series
For X99 Platform Ripjaw 4 series

For Z170 platform Trident Z or Ripjaws 5 for X99 Ripjaws 4.

Probably best option from price/performance/compatibility side is 2x8GB 3000MHz Trident Z.
You need to be carefull there are two kits

1. F4-3000C15D-16GTZB 16-16-16
2. F4-3000C15D-16GTZ 15-15-15 - QVL

ASUS probably tested only F4-3000C15D-16GTZ for Maximus VIII Hero and I would go on that kit.
Other kit with higher latency is 99% compatible but if they test with 15 latency buy that kit.
If you search RAM for other board check in Memory Device Support for kit you want.
