Dummies guide to overclocking this board?

Took a look at the guide but many things are still assumed that the reader knows what the writer is talking about,,such as what is
strap and how should I use it,,among other things unkown to the novice.

    5930k simple OC guide please.

boot into bios, select your xmp profile, set system agent voltage to 1.05 , cpu input voltage to 1.9v, increase your core multiplier to 36 if youre using 125 bclk, to 45 if youre using 100 bclk (depending on your xmp profile) set vcore voltage (dont get this wrong with cpu input voltage) to 1.3v
set cache min multiplier to auto and cache max multiplier to 30 (if using 100 bclk) or 24 if using 125 bclk.

    done, 4.5ghz.
run realbench for 2hours, if it passes its fairly stable and you can decrease your vcore voltage by 0.05v (until it wont pass realbench, go as low as possible). if not, decrease your core multiplier. and keep an eye on your temps. everything below 80celcius is fine.

    Asus ROG Overclocking Guide For Core i7 5960X, 5930K & 5820K
Raja's The Haswell-E Overclocking Thread and Overclocking Guide
Raja's Overclocking Tips - Part Two

These (and many other) guides are not really For Dummies, but they're not really rocket surgery either. Good overclocks require methodical application of knowledge - some reading, tweaking, and testing is an unavoidable part of the process. You can't really expect consistent results when using somebody else's OC settings because each particular processor part has unique quirks and qualities and limits when overclocked.

The closest thing you'll find to Overclocking ROG motherboards For Dummies is running the auto-overclocking software which came on your motherboard support disc (AI Suite III, Asus 5-Way Optimization by Dual Intelligent Processors 5, Asus Turbo App, Asus Fan Xpert 3, ROG Extreme Tweaker, ROG GameFirst III, etc). Or, if you're lucky, just pressing the semi-useless OC button on your OC Panel accessory.

"Real" overclockers disdain these software tools. Or will only run them once (and uninstall) to configure baseline reference/comparison settings when attempting better overclocks. Better - the best! - overclocks of course being achieved almost entirely through proper BIOS settings. But, hey, these Asus ROG OC tools are based on years of practical research by Asus engineers and world-class overclockers ... so they're easy to use ("For Dummies") and actually tend to overclock somewhat well (even though manually fine-tuning the BIOS can always do better).

Thanks, how can I set the memory to default because using the 5 way boost the ram and so oc fails. I think if I can force the ram to stock rather than xmp I might have a better chance.
