HI to everyone, I want to buy a new laptop, before I had chosen a gl552vw (16gb ram ddr5, 960m 4gb, ssd m.2 128gb) which it costs 1400€ on amazon, but it is not available anymore...
then I would take the gl752vw which it costs 1000€ on amazon, but there are only 8gb of ram ddr5, 960m only 2gb vram, and no ssd m.2, but the prise is awesome...

what should I do? which one to choose?

there are much different in game and work with gtx 960m from 2gb vs 4gb of vram????

thanks to all and sorry for my bad english!!!!

go for the 752 if you're gonna use it as a stationary laptop. It's big but it does the thing.

Ram is ddr4 not 5, easily updateable with a SODIMM card which is about 50€ (8gb ddr4 2133mhz version). A 250gb M.2 sata would cost you 120€, much less if you go for te 120gb version.

The 2gb extra RAM on the GPU is not a noticeable advantage, as that GPU can't really take the whole memory working. Will make an insignificant FPS difference which is definitely NOT worthy. You can search this in google; 960m 2gb vs 4gb.

I have myself a gl752vw, fully satisfied. It costed me 860 in a spanish shop, anyway your choice in amazon would be 1000 + 50 (ram) + 120 (ssd) so would make 1170€

If you can get one with gtx 970m. The new G751JT or G752VT. Between GL752 and G552, I prefer the larger sibling. Between VRAM, bigger is always better. But I would suggest looking at G751JT with Gsync.

the g751/752 is too much heavy and big, not portable at all...

Have you seen the G501? It has 4gb gtx960m and 15.6" screen and it looks similar to a MacBook, so thin.

I want only gl752vw or gl552vw....

Well your choice is easy GL752 is 17" very large and heavy, GL552 is 15" screen smaller lighter not cooled as well but lighter to carry around. 17" is semi portable with Adapter is quite heavy and awkward to carry form class to class or even back and forth home to work every day.

Performance wise there is probably not much difference other than the less cooling in the 15" models, You can't add VRAM you can add system RAM and you can add SSD yourself but are you really going to save any money in the long run.
I would think that 2GB VRAM would be much less that 4 GB VRAM with modern games

i travel for a living.. i lugged my G75VX (until it died) and now GL752vw all over the world. literally. from new york, to china, to san fran, to Europe... i put it in a backpack or fit it into my roller bag. the power brick is like half the size of the one for the G series as well, and is very portable.

if you're going to be parking in front of a gaming laptop, id much rather look at a 17" screen than a 15". the form factor of the GL is a lot lighter and smaller than the G versions.

do you want to be lugging a GL752 every single day to class or work twice a day? prob not... but if your going to be traveling with it once or twice a week, i dont see any reason why not...

ps.. my ONLY beef so far with the GL752 is the audio is really poor. headsets are practically a must.
the audio on my old G series wasnt half bad for a laptop... it was usable if you didnt feel like wearing headphones. not so much on the GL

ATR-42 I agree, I travel to a site usually offshore on a Ship and set up. So I couldn't do with out a 17" for me there desktop replacement. While I don't game I still pay for the extra power and leading edge components mostly just because I like that.. My advise to the OP was as he didn't seem to have any Idea the real difference between a 15" and 17". Personally I wish they made 20" notebooks LOL.
