Anyway, the 1902 bios has the worst latency and memory performance (you can try the AIDA64 memory benchmark) than any previous bios. I'm back to the 1801.

im actually back to 1801 too after tweaking every day now. 1801 requires way less voltage and is much easier to get stable as 1902 for me. (1902 i cant get past 4.5ghz on my 5820k. on 1801 it passes RB for 2hours with just a multiplier of 47 and 1.3v and even auto vccsa/vccin are lower than what ive set them to in 1902 (at 4.5ghz...))

Has anyone noticed slow shutdown times after updating to mod 1902? I'm also experiencing an issue where after turning the computer on, it randomly shuts down after 10 secs before posting. After turning it back on it boots. Maybe I should try 1801.

No noticeable (or measured) differences in startup times, shutdown times, and runtime performance for me - same results with 1902 and 1701.

Random shutdowns aren't good, lol. Maybe you should rollback the BIOS to confirm/deny that 1902 is causing the issue.

According to Asus support back in the days when they actually supported the board on here it is memory training.

nope, are you sure that isn't fast boot at work as it will be saving a hiberfile.sys every shutdown.

it takes up to a min to shut down. I've seen some people staying their comp shuts down in secs. I'll try turning off fast boot to see what diff it makes.

Yeah, it takes mine a good solid minute, maybe even a little more, when fast boot is enabled. Goes down to 5-10 seconds with it disabled.

It does make boot quite a bit faster, but I don't like the idea that any possible corruption or instability that creeps into the OS will be maintained through every shutdown, forever.

    I compared 1902 with 1801. Same BIOS settings for both - 5960x @ 4.5GHz, RAM at DDR4-2750, 15-15-15-35 1T. I ran every test 5 times and averaged the results.

    With 1801, AIDA64 reports memory read 74988 MB/s, write 67759, copy 72996, with latency 56.3 ns.
With 1902, memory read is 73540 MB/s, write 66482, copy 71032, and latency 59 ns.

So, definitely slower memory access under 1902 with the same settings as 1801. I didn't try to tighten up my timings which might be possible considering the slower access.

Just for grins I compared realbench 2.43 results. As expected, not a huge difference:

    With 1801, editing 205970, encoding 299402, opencl 109875, multitasking 247784, with a total score of 193782.
    With 1902, editing 202571, encoding 303231, opencl 109875, multitasking 243532, with a total score of 192827.
