Crosshair V Formula Z AMD 990FX No Boot Device Detected

When I boot my system up I am getting a random error that the system does not find a Boot Device .....

So I restart hit F2 go into the Bios, my drives are listed so I just press F10 save and the system restarts fine.

My current Bios is 0704 this is an old one but I have not had any issues until now so haven't had the need to update it plus I will loose my OC when I update it.

I have downloaded the latest Bios 1703 and have attempted to update the bios in the hope that flashing it resolves the issue however when I try to do this using the Flash tool in the bios I get the following error " Image Integrity Check Fail"

I'm not sure what to do next.

Hi Anthony566 😄

Latest Bios is 2201 and best method to flash your Bios is to use your ROG connect port on the IO panel.
You will need an empty USB stick, formatted to fat 32.
Obtain the Bios file from support and at the same time get the renaming tool from utilities.
With Bios file and renaming tool on the USB, activate the renamer to convert the file to correct .CAP format.
Power down your system so there is only power to the MB, With the USB inserted, press the flash button for 3 secs until it begins to blink and when the blinking stops, it is done.
This Bios will enhance capability to some USB devices and improve system stability, however the random recognition of your boot device may be something else. It may also fix your problem.

Hi Anthony566

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/CROSSHAIR_V_FORMULAZ/HelpDesk_Download/

I have just noticed that the Bios file is the .CAP file and does no longer require the renamer.

Its ok I have now flashed it .. I have rebooted a few times and it has gone into windows each time but tomorrow morning will be a good test as it always does it when its been off for a while, I have also replace the bios battery as they are very cheap.

Now the other thing I will need help with is my overclock as this was done for me so I have no idea how to do it. my cpu was OC'd to 4.4GHZ.

Hi Anthony566 😄 Good news and thanks for reporting back.

It would be a good idea to familiarize yourself with the EUFI Bios, a little daunting at first but I'm sure you will get there quickly.
There are some good tutorials here and on Youtube that will help.
Go here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MckeAmnDeTk
For some in depth reading regarding your CPU and OCing go here: https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?30417-Overclocking-FX-8350-4-8ghz-Crosshair-V-Formula-z

No two systems are the same and no two CPUs of the same spec will achieve a particular result. It all depends on your cooling capability and the strength of your CPU's IMC (Integrated Memory Controller).

Good Luck and happy OCing.
