I had vg24qe 3 years, it is very good indeed but i like more my new 27 inch pg279q. Graphics just look so much better in 1440p and ips.

They state best 144hz monitor for lower budgets. Not the best monitor.

As for the best monitor that depends on what type of gaming you intend to use it for mostly.

PG278Q - TN Panel - Best for FPS and games where screen response rates are more important than better colour precision.

PG279Q - IPS Panel - Best for game colour precision and games where screen response rate does not matter as much.

I would not go 4k res for gaming unless you have more than 1 graphic card.

It's 2017, more 144hz monitors are available and the first 4K displays with 144hz have been announced (among others Asus ROG Swift PG27UQ).

Meanwhile, there's an extensive list of 144hz monitors - (list)

While displays have historically not been the most innovative segment there's a lot coming up this year. HDR, Quantum Dot, OLED... It's going to be an interesting year

But... hardware requirements for the 'rig' are definitely rising. Incredibly high if one wants to push fps @ 4K in the 144 fps area.

This is why I didn't wait for the newest display generation.*
