So now I've replaced the PSU and the RAM with new and fully compatible ones (RAM is on the QVL; please see my updated specs). Today I've got the "boot to BIOS, no drives visible" problem again. Any ideas?

So far this mainboard and / or the chipset seems to be the most unstable / most sensitive / most problematic ones I've got so far in over 10 years! :-(

    Hello amyristom

It seems there is corsair vengeance LPX for the z170 and x99 boards.

This is a little confusing to me too, your kit says for x99.

    http://www.corsair.com/en-us/vengean...6gx4m4a2400c14

    For x99 and z170 boards

    http://www.corsair.com/en-us/vengean...6gx4m2a2400c14

I don't know how much difference these two kits would make but you could contact corsair and see what they have to say.

Defintely related to memory incompatibility or instability.

Are you using XMP profile or manual bios memory settings?

Exactly THIS kit of memory is on the official QVL list from Asus for exactly this specific mainboard! So it can't be incompatible. The memory is used with XMP profile. No further overclocking is done in the BIOS.

    BTW: @Nate152:
The RAM you've mentioned (http://www.corsair.com/en-us/vengean...6gx4m2a2400c14) is not on the official QVL list for this mainboard, therefor I did not bought it since I've already had problems with my memory kit before the actual one (that was Crucial RAM) which was not on the QVL either.

    Try manual memory bios settings.

I would test with just two modules installed, 4 dimms might be too much for the IMC.

OK I'll try manual RAM settings. BTW: 4 modules were tested by Asus because it is said in the QVL to be fully compatible by using 4 dimms.

Sure, however the IMC is on the CPU, which can individually differ

Seriously, is this whole skylake plattform that sensitive to everything that's so hard to get a fully stable system out of it (it seems to be so)? My system configurations in the last 10 years were all based on AMD CPU's (and ASUS boards) and there I've never experienced a plattform that sensitive than this one seems to be.
