Hero - PC will not power on from mobo start button or front panel pwr button

Hello,

I am hoping to get some last minute ideas before I RMA this board. I woke up this morning and my PC would not power on. My PC has been working fine since I built it around Skylake launch (late August).

Symptoms:
The backlight for the power button and reset buttons on the mobo are lit, however these buttons are not working. Reset CMOS button appears to work "power/reset lights flash". No Q codes show up on the motherboard either.

Troubleshooting steps taken:

1. Used Reset CMOS button/Reset button on board
2. Reconnected front panel buttons
3. Tested PSU with power supply tester.
4. Disconnected all drives, removed GPU, and pulled CMOS battery.

Any advice?

Thanks.

Hello Oddmanout

Double check the main 24 pin power cable is fully connected. If you're still not getting a code from the motherboard you either have mobo or psu failure.

As Nemesischild says please list your full system specifications.

Thank you for your specs

Would have another psu to test with? This would confirm which one has failed.

Ordered a new PSU to test with. Will report findings, thank you. Does ASUS do advanced RMA?

I have heard no word they have stopped the advanced RMA program, So I say yes they are still doing advanced RMA

Oddmanout - I didn't mean for you to go purchase a new psu, I was just asking if you had another one to test with. 🙂

But if you still get no code on the led readout with a new psu you can be sure it's the motherboard.

I know Asus used to do advanced RMA's, I can't say with 100% certainty if they still do or not.
