hi today ive seen some benchmarkdetails on hwbot forum... how can it be that an 4720 have a unlocked multi of 38 running on system with 3800 mhz with bclk100.
i thougt that the the 4720 cant go higher than 3700 without bclk clocking?! very impressed by this!

Some of the older BIOS versions allowed for an extra overclocking bin (203-204, I think). I guess they could have gone back to the old versions?

i mean not on g751... 4720 generally the data sheet spoke 3600 mhz max. in the bench ive seen there is an N751JX with bios 209 this is one of the latest for this machine and give them posibility to go on 3800mhz with a 4720? it seems that asus has throtteld our g751 with core 4720 for nothing.
is there a possibility to unlock the 2nd oc bin? why is it unlocked for other cheaper models?

On the G751JY, with 202 Bios I can go up to 37x 36x 35x 35x. With all the other following Bios max multipliers are 36x 35x 34x 34x.

It would be interesting to know if this "limit" can be exceed with a modded Bios. With the cooling capacities of the G751 I think we can go up to 38x - 39x safely.

with 202 you get 37x with intel XTU or at stock speed?

With Intel XTU, sorry 🙂

However, I noticed that with 36x I can undervolt until -75/-80 mV and it's perfectly stable.
With 37x, I can't go under -45 mV, otherwise it becames unstable during normal usage (freeze/reboot when surfing on internet, no problem during game or heavy load, LOL)

ive seen too that 202 has one(100mhz stock) oc bin more...but why has the 4720 in a asus n751 more mhz than our "hypergaminglaptop"

Good question.

could it be that intel offer(sell) the overclocking bins for oems ? thats could be the reason why the same cpu runs higher clocks on some notebooks. in this moment i think asus has not paid for 3800 mhz on this notebook.
