Rampage V Extreme BIOS 1902 Overclocking Presets Help

I'm new to overclocking and wanted some expertise from the community.

I searched the forums but didn't find a thread that answered my question so I might be posting this in the wrong section.

Anyways, I recently put together my PC and have been breaking it in before I overclocked anything. My PC specs are in my profile.

The overclocking presets have made it easy but I can't seem to use both the 8-core preset and the XMP profile for my memory, I can only do one or the other.

Here are the changes from defaults:
CPU

  • Ai Overclock Tuner [Auto]->[Manual]
  • CPU Core Ratio [Sync All Cores]->[Pre Core]
  • 1-Core Ratio Limit [Auto]->[44]
  • 2-Core Ratio Limit [Auto]->[44]
  • 3-Core Ratio Limit [Auto]->[44]
  • 4-Core Ratio Limit [Auto]->[44]
  • 5-Core Ratio Limit [Auto]->[43]
  • 6-Core Ratio Limit [Auto]->[43]
  • 7-Core Ratio Limit [Auto]->[43]
  • 8-Core Ratio Limit [Auto]->[42]
  • Min. CPU Cache Ratio [Auto]->[30]
  • Max. CPU Cache Ratio [Auto]->[30]
  • Fully Manual Mode [Enabled]->[Disabled]
  • CPU Core Voltage [Auto]->[Manual Mode]
  • CPU Core Voltage Override [Auto]->[1.350]
  • CPU Cache Voltage [Auto]->[Manual Mode]
  • CPU Cache Voltage Override [Auto]->[1.250]
  • CPU Load-line Calibration [Auto]->[Level 9]
  • CPU VRM Switching Frequency [Auto]->[Manual]
  • CPU Power Phase Control [Auto]->[Extreme]
  • CPU Power Duty Control [T.Probe]->[Extreme]
  • CPU Current Capability [Auto]->[140%]

Memory

  • Ai Overclock Tuner [Auto]->[XMP]
  • CPU Strap [Auto]->[125MHz]
  • BCLK Frequency [100.0]->[125.0]
  • 1-Core Ratio Limit [Auto]->[28]
  • 2-Core Ratio Limit [Auto]->[28]
  • 3-Core Ratio Limit [Auto]->[28]
  • 4-Core Ratio Limit [Auto]->[28]
  • 5-Core Ratio Limit [Auto]->[28]
  • 6-Core Ratio Limit [Auto]->[28]
  • 7-Core Ratio Limit [Auto]->[28]
  • 8-Core Ratio Limit [Auto]->[28]
  • Min. CPU Cache Ratio [Auto]->[24]
  • Max. CPU Cache Ratio [Auto]->[24]
  • DRAM Frequency [Auto]->[DDR4-3000MHz]
  • Turbo Mode [Enabled]->[Disabled]
  • Turbo Mode [Enabled]->[Disabled]

I've tried to combine these two to the best of my ability but it fails.

Can someone help me figure out whether this is even doable and/or if there may be a better way to achieve both.

Thank you

What you can do is enable XMP and change the Core Ratios to 36 which will give you a 4.5GHz overclock. Then set the Vcore to 1.35V as you did and test for stability.

In my case, I used XMP files
memory @ 3000
B Frequncy @ 125
CPU @ 36
Cache @ 32
CPU Volt @ 1.3
The worst temp single core is 84c.

It seems to have taken your suggestion about modifying the XMP profile so I will confirm stability over the next couple of days.

I left the min/max cache value @ 24. Would there be a benefit/consequence to setting it up to 32?

Thank you for the help.

Higher cache = Higher memory r/w performance
Best setting would be the same ratios of CPU and cache like CPU and cache both @ 36
But in that case, u will need a really good cooling solution for ur CPU

What I would do is leave Cache overclocking as the last thing on the list. Overclocking the Core is where the true performance is at.

I've noticed XMP doesn't seem to do anything other than change your multiplier. I was hoping it would load all the DRAM values (CAS/RAS/etc.) and I could override my own o/c but it seems useless. I just leave it to manual.

Yes, the timings are definitely not in the change list above but isn't the XMP profile specifically for the low latency RAM?

The new timings are in the profile name... why would it not change those? Mine should be set to 14-16-16-35; 1.35V.

I haven't had to do this manually before, what exactly should I change to get my RAM up to par if the profile isn't actually doing it?
