Well I don't know what to do ! I cant breach the 200K score. My 5960X its @ 4.6 GHZ, maybe later ill put it in DICE, to lower the temps and push it to 4.9 - 5.0 GHZ @ 1.5 - 1.7 volts. I think my cache is the problem ... should I be @ 4.7 ?

So Image Editing ... its all CPU ! Ram Timings, SSD or 4X M2 950 PRO RAID 0 lol ! wont help?

hmm, there has to be something else going on in your system.

I was in windows checking stability after a change (I got impatient with my longer stability test) I ran it 2x the first time was in the 190k range. The second was 223854. Here's my config right now:
    CPU:Intel Core i7 5960X - Speed:1199.7 MHz - Multi:12.0 - Bus:100.0 MHz
    RAM:1399.7 MHz (1:28) - 128GB - 14-14-14-34-2T
    MB:X99-PRO/USB 3.1 - FW:2101 - Desktop
    OS:Windows 7 Professional
    GPU1:NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980

Disk is an an 840 500G, no SLI , one card in there only.
Cache is 4.2GHz for this run.

Have you run something like aida64 to see if you are throttling at all?

Also check task manager make sure you don't have something chewing up your CPU (google drive, afterburner, etc...)

I'm going to try degrading each of the usual suspects one by one to see which ones eat into my 270K score and which ones don't.

Will try SATA SSD or even a spinner versus my NVMe 950 Pro. Also can back off the XMP 3200 down to 2166 and go up to 15-15-15 (or even higher) instead of 14-14-14. Can also drop the cache down toward 3500. Will also drop the CPU down to 4.6 from the 4.8/4.9 range to better match what a lot of folks are getting.

Out of all of these, I know dropping the CPU speed will have an effect, but will be interesting to see the individual effect of the others.

DDR4 is very sensitive to secondary and tertiary timings as well as primary...

Gobe can you post up what your kit is setting in 2nd and 3rd?

I whittled my timings down one by one looking at AIDA benchmark...who knows if this is best for RB...or if there is some secret to an optimum relationship between them all....I am aware of RTL/IO but not had time to go into this.....

Gobe theres something magic with your setup ! lol

But this is really wierd, lisen to this .... I ran realbench hwbot version with a i7 6700K @ 4.7 ghz, with Kingston Predator 3000, a regular SSD ... with 1 MSI GTX 980Ti Lightning, and I was doing around 220K in Image Rendering ... I dont get it ...

Maybe there is somekind of instability with my 5960X and thats the reason of the scores.

My best guess is that the scores are some kind related to CPU/RAM issues ... when is not stable, low score .. im going to check that out

The HWbot version is just that...a different version...different scoring...not comparable

Just as another data point, I ran the same thing, but 4.7/4.2 vs 4.5/4.2 and it was about 236 vs 224 (at 4.5/4.2). That.s 4.4% speed up of CPU and 5.4% speed up of benchmark. Given that 1-% is total noise in windows, this seems pretty reasonable and linear in this range.

Just got back home... seems the airlines get all nervous about sending planes back out after they get hit by lightning. Had to drive the last 200+ miles through driving rain. Yuck. Will look at all the things folks think I should look at after I've rested up in the next few days.

Then I'll sell my secret to the highest bidder. lol.
