I am curious as to how well the 10 core will overclock compared to the 8 core, the 6900 is a viable upgrade to the 5960 with the 14 nm process, will it clock higher than the 6950 as the price difference seems to much

Yeah as before, if they really price there, they've put the 10core in xeon range, at which point v3 or even v4 chips with 2x the cores become more interesting. Almost $700 for 2 more cores doesn't math. I'll take an 8 core or again, start looking at dual chip xeon setups and get 2-4x more cores for work that can use them.

First benchmarks are out. I have the same question as Menthol. Will the 6900k be a good OC chip? The 6950x with 10 cores appears to be a challenge:

Anandtech seems to have found similar performance:

They also mention the issue I did which was that @ $1700-1800, if what you need is "the corez...." this is the wrong way to get it (i.e. spend $1800-$2000 on 2 xeon chips and get a bunch more of them).
