Hero MoBo audio no longer stutters after today's install of BIOS 1701

I'm using Realtek driver v6.0.1.7553. Sonic Studio II is still installed.

    Audio now sounds good.

As predicted (but I hoped not in my case) the problem returned today. I sampled several audio files and could easily hear brief distortion at predictable times. After a reboot just now, the audio is good again. A few days ago I also uninstalled Sonic Studio II, as I don't have a use for it.

To be honest, I have given up any hope for a solution for this issue from Asus, advertising this as premium sound-quality seems to be a big joke and the guys at Asus are having a good laugh about us "believers" on every cigarette break.
I have settled for the Microsoft drivers and have to use a different soundcard to use my headset for gaming with this "gaming-mobo"...

I wish I had better advice for you guys - I am not sure why some are afflicted by the sound oddities with the realtek driver. I see you are using the older driver from 2015. Have you given 6.0.1.7786 a try? It was released a couple weeks ago. It says improvements for microphone noise reduction but perhaps it has some compatibility fixes in there too.

Do you get stuttering only when gaming or when listening to media also?

The most annoying is the pop-sound whenever an audio-channel gets opened plus the truncation of the start of the sounds, the stuttering just happened with normal media, not in-game, but very rarely.

1 week later and the symptoms persist; still temporarily relieved by reboots.

I've managed to maintain the Microsoft driver for a few weeks straight, by initially using the Microsoft 'driver upgrade' software block. However, the audio problem seems to reappear after a few days of uptime and is consistently temporarily fixed by a reboot. I'm not aware of any installed RealTek driver or Sonic Studio.

    BIOS 1701.
