GTX 1080 driver issue

Hi folks !

Just got and built in my new (Gigabyte) GF GTX 1080. Which was quiet easy. (coming from a GTX980)

Now I´m running Windows but the driver can not be installed.

First the GPU is installed with a "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter".
Trying to install the actual driver 368.25 leads to an error message, claiming the driver is not compatible with this version of Windows?? (W10NLTSBx64)
Quiet odd since any other drivers work perfectly.

Trying to install the driver manually leads to another error message: A driver was found but there was an error. While there is no explanation not even a hint on why.

Deinstalled the GPU, restarted, now shows up as "VGA-compatible Video Controller".

Manual install procedure shows up the "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" or the official "NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1080" but still leads to the same error message.

What can I do now ? Nvidia Chat is down for now.... Might this be an ASUS BIOS problem ? Think not so.

EDIT:

Installing GeForce Experience from CD worked, card is recognized, driver downloaded, but when it comes to installation it says again:
The drive is not compatible to this version of Windows.

Does it mean I got to completely reinstall W10 as a Pro version now ? Hell, no.... Please not.... 😞

Hell, I had to do a fresh W10 install, but now the driver is accepted flawlessly.

Coming down to Home might be a pain but... we´ll see.

(btw W10 Home was activated directly, so W8.1 + upgrade obviously is not needed.)

So up to know anything seems to work fine. Will take some time to get things arranged but .... I think, it´s all right....

At least we know now that the 368.25 does not accept W10NLTSB (yet).... Though quiet a few people might be using that type... do we ?

If you are installing the GeForce GTX 1080 on Windows 10, please make sure you are on version 1511 or higher.

I have seem videos on this, you need to remove the old drivers totally from your system and do a fresh install and this should sort the issues

Too late, guys, much too late.....

Big performance improvements about 60-70% !! Very nice ! If things stay stable, buying the 1080 was a thing I don´t regret at all !

I love the fact also that the 1080 even more performance then the gtx 980ti, and uses half of the power which is a good thing
