ah nice I see you replaced your SSHD with an SSD as well, nice rig. I have my 500GB SSD + the original drive as a 2nd drive (1TB) though i'm considering replacing the 1tb with a WB Red drive or something to that degree maybe 4 or 6 tb. Anyway I got my Asus GTX 1080, installed it, got firestrike score of 15650. seems way better than the 980ti's score of 13223, both windows 10 btw only dif is the card. I'll do tests on the 4K res, I don't think firestrike does 4k tests

ok update, I ran GPU Tweak II and did a custom OC setup, maxed the crap out of it I got 2038 Mhz while just roaming around in division in 4K ultra setting turned of V sync. I also went 120% power fyi. since I have the DELL Y90RR 330w power brick it isn't an issue and i'm sure the 230W won't be either but who knows. still need the 180 for the system.
I only ran it for awhile and walked here and there, no heavy gaming. i'll do that during the long weekend.

    Upgrade from GTX 960

Will a 960 have a power cable attached and the jumper set already; just a straight switch of new graphics card.

    1) Building in the card is really easy, everything is as it should be.

Just one thing: An 8-pin cable is required. If you're running a GTX 980 or better, yet, you should find such a cable inside, yet. Otherwise get one online, it's cheap.

    2) Driver install is nicely working as long as you're running a regular and up to date consumer version. On N LTSB the driver refused being installed. Don't know another fix so just made it fresh and period.

    3) The performance gain compared to a GTX980 is absolutely awesome...... OMG!!! Mind-Blowing, totally mind-blowing.

    4) No power consumption issues at all here up to now, even with highest demanding games like ACU, GTA V, Witcher 3 etc. all on UHD and nearly maxed out.

    5) Loudness is comparable to the GTX 980, for me even better since the noise seems to be more comfortable in my ears and brain.

Conclusion: This is a full strike, a deep hit. Couldn't be better. I'm so happy about it. Wow! Titan X or Ti users should be careful since the gain will be significantly less impressive....
Just so you know, my G20AJ came with a GTX 760 and it already had the 8 pin power connector for the new GTX 1080 I just installed. It was basically plug and play.

There is a deal on a Zoltac Founders Edition GTX 1080 -- Are Zoltac ok, or should I stick with another manufacturer ?

The same one as the Nvidia GTX 1080 Founders Edition i use in the G20CB.Dont know what difference there is with a Zotak, Asus, EVGA and so on compared to the original GTX 1080 Founders Edition when the specs looks to be the same.Rather confusing for sure when it more looks like some developer bought a Chevy and put a Volvo emblem on it !?.

    Hey Fonzie,

Yeah, I think all the FEs are built to the same specs, but I'm wondering if the physical parts are the same between different manufacturers. One YouTube review said the Zoltac had plastic on its back plate, and I'm wondering if the other manufacturers use plastic or metal for the back plate.*

There is different physical parts depending on what GPU you choose. My MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X has a metal back plate in aluminium who is plastic coated for some reason. And there are some other GPU,s with metal back plates and of course the plastic one.Its probably a question of how much money people are prepared to pay for there GPU who points the direction on these physical parts.Have a nice day.

I finally got the Zoltac -- it was 14% off with Watchdogs 2.
Install was fine. My original system had the 980 GTX, which used two power cables. The 1080 GTX only uses one 8-pin power cable.
The first time I installed it, I see the boot screen. Then windows auto installed the drivers. Although I downloaded the latest nvidia drivers.
Everything is running fine. However, I no longer see the Asus boot screen and no signal to the monitor until the Windows 10 login screen appears.*
