PCI Simple Communications Controller Driver

I have a PCI Simple Communications Controller that Win 7 says I am missing the driver. I have two external drives plugged into the PCI USB 3.1 that came with the MB and they are not showing up. That lead me to believe it is the USB 3.1 that is the problem. I downloaded the latest driver from ASUS site. When I installed it said I already had the driver. So, I selected repair. It is not working still. I tried using Device Manager and browse to driver, nothing.

Does anyone know the problem is?

Thanks.

OK, I got the driver issue sorted, but the USB 3.1 is not working. I plugged several different things in and none were detected. Any ideas please?

Thanks.

I don't mean to be impatient or ungrateful, but how come no one ever responds to my posts to help me? Am I not following some forum etiquette? I need help please.

Not sure but check the manual for the lanes on the pci-e when a 5820k is used. I think it cuts some lanes on some pcie and don't remember if anything else is disabled when a 5820k is used.

5820k has 28 lanes
5930 5960 have 40

What PCIe slots are currently populated? That may explain why the USB 3.1 card is not working.

I am using the following:

Slot 1 - Graphics
Slot 4 - Revo drive
Slot 6 - USB 3.1

Is that OK? Or is this the problem?

Hi memetic

Check in the device manager, a yellow triangle beside pci simple communications controller is due to the MEI driver not installed.

Instead of repairing the driver installation, can you install the Asmedia driver? I wonder if it's a driver issue.
