New M.2 plans, need insight.

Hello guys!

I currently have a 950 pro in the mobo's m.2 slot. I plan to get a second 950 and use a m.2 pcie adapter card (angelbird wings px1). In the bios, i've set the last pcie slot to m.2 so in theory could i put the new m.2 adapter card in the same slot and fully benefit the 4x left on that slot ?. Also, do i have to install drivers for the mobo to detect a m.2 drive in an expansion card ?.

From what I'm being told you have to use slot 2 instead of 4 if you are using SLI.

If you aren't using SLI, then the fourth slot is fine and won't impact the number of lanes you have.

As long as you aren't running them 950's in RAID use the Samsung drivers. If you are going to do a Windows RAID you have to use windows software.

Hey,

No i do not use SLi. I already have one m.2 in the mobo's slot which is using 4x from the slot 4 (8x), so there's 4x left for the m.2 adapter (and new m.2). I think putting it in a slot other than the 4th one would be useless. And no i'm not going to raid anything. I'm just trying to get rid of my ssd's slowly.
