Hey,

just wanted to say to the community that the new OCZ (toshiba) M.2 ssds are working well with the R5E. No problems at all. The AIC also works as intended and everything is detected properly in the bios.

Nice to hear, does OCZ have there own nvme drivers like Samsung and Intel?

They are decent nvme drives. Only thing is you can't raid them. The company said they can't seem to get it to work with Intel RST.

Hey,

Yes they have their own drivers. I've tested with AND without their drivers. I haven't seen any difference whatsoever in performance (atto and in-house ocz tool). Although this could be because i already have a Samsung 950 Pro and i had to install samsung's nvme drivers so that could play a part. Or their drivers are just for compatibility purposes. And raid is indeed impossible since it's incompatible with intel RST like JRM said. But all in all i get 2700 mb/sec read on a 128gb drive. I find that quite a feat!. For a windows install drive, this is perfect.

Hello

A NVMe driver is beneficial to only certain data sets like those found in PCMark 8. The lack of RAID is not a drive issue. X99 does not support RAIDing M.2 PCIe drives

I was stating that particular drive does not work in RAID and does not work with Intel RST. This was stated by the company in a review video. So if you try to do it on a Z170 chipset it will not work. It's not that way on purpose. He said they just haven't been able to get it to work yet.

Posting that info in a forum section and a thread for X99 is completely irrelevant. May want to take it to a Z170 thread. And by the way, I'm fully aware of how the drive performs and its capabilities on different platforms from my prerelease testing for Toshiba.

You stated "The lack of RAID is not a drive issue". That is incorrect. I was speaking of the drive itself is not capable of RAID on any platform. Regardless of whether you knew that or not you did not word it that way and the point was to inform the OP of that fact.

Hey praz,

Thank you for clarifying. But could you shine some light on why my 950 pro performances were really low when not using their drivers, and that was in everyday applications. I think it was using storahci somehow.
