What sound option would you choose?

ZXR is like night and day compared to the onboard junk when running a quality set of headphones. The onboard wasn't capable of running my Sennheiser 150ohm headset.
Well it ran it with no bass at all as it didn't have the power to run them. Asus admitted the onboard wasn't up to the job so it is basically false advertising.

Apparently Sound Blaster ZXR is better
but you need pay more cost for purchase
actually onboard sound has already qualified for gaming

Personally the onboard sound + the SupremeFX Hi-Fi USB DAC/AMP is more than enough for my needs. 🙂

If you have the motherboard already, test it and see if you like audio as it is. If it doesn't meet your expectations, then go buy the sound card that you want.

This is funny question... Sound Blaster ZxR + Pioneer SP PK52FS 5.1 Speaker System + Pioneer VSX1131 7.2 160W per channel receiver
is best at the moment sound under 1000$. And could be compared with far more expensive systems.
You can't imagine how sound games and movies with that and speakers quality.

And only SB ZxR compare with SupremeFX is like most powerfull Mercedes with FIAT.
Card cost 230-250$ more than most motherboards, how could be compared with onboard sound.

ZxR without a doubt. Or SB ZX because ZxR is a little overkill. But most definitely a dedicated sound card.
