    Hi deanthfc

Welcome to the ROG forum !

You have an excellent overclocking ROG Strix 1070.

Max GPU Boost clock - 2126MHz

    Max Memory clock - 9334MHz

Under 70c, as expected with the ROG Strix 1070 temps are superb too.

Nice job you did great, thank you for posting your results.

Unigine Valley is more a gpu benchmark than a gpu stress test, I have to back off my overclocks for certain games too. It still gives an idea of where you stand with your overclock and don't be discouraged, yours is outstanding.

Usually the flashing is from too high of a memory overclock. What I'd do is back off the memory 50MHz until the flashing stops then fine tune.

    Hi Nate,

I was thinking about OC my asus rog 1070 from your guide (this will be my first overclock) and i was wondering how good should my power supply be. I have Cooler Master Elite V3 600W and i dont know if this will be enough. My case is also not good CoolerMaster MASTERBOX E300L (i know they are old i will change them soon).I have it with ryzen 7 3800x and when i touch the case its pretty hot. Is the case good enough with the power supply or should i change them so i can do the OC. I simply wanna do it because i dont think i will be able to run Cyberpunk 2077 on high60fps. Overall this GPU is monster for the money i get it and i cant wait to upgrade to 3070 or 3080 for 2k gaming.

    Thanks in advance,
    Krad

    Hi Kradeca

Welcome to the ROG forum !

Your 600w psu is enough to overclock your ROG Strix 1070, give it a try and see how it goes.

    Please post your results.

    Hey Nate,

First of all sorry for the late respone, i just OC'd it and im pleased with the results.
After i put GPU Boost Clock, GPU Voltage and all that, i noticed that my Power Target goes max for 112, not 120 like yours. I started up Shadow of the Tomb Raider and immediately noticed big red dots so i lowered Memory clock to 9000mhz but after that i countinue to see red dots. Then i tried to lower GPU boost clock to 1800mhz and it seems like this was the case. I tried anything higher but i get the dots. I could't get any higher boost clock maybe because from the Power Supply? Before OC i got from Unigine benchmark FPS:152.0 Score:6362 Min FPS:44.9 Max FPS:263.0
    After OC - FPS:162.4 Score:6796 Min FPS:46.2 Max FPS:272.9
I am also a bit worried about temperatures from 3dMark benchmark i got 67C max and i think i heard a noice that i haven't heard before from my GPU. For some reason the site doesn't allow me to upload temp pic.

I would like to hear your opinion on how I managed and what I could have done better.
    Regards, Krad

Thank you for posting your results.

The standerd ROG Strix 1070-8G only goes to power target 112, the overclock edition 1070-08G goes to power target 120. But don't sweat, the standard Strix 1070's overclock just as well as the Strix 1070 overclock editions.

I remember you saying your case gets hot to the touch and I was a little concerned what your temps might be, but 67c is a very good temp.

Some games are more demanding than the Unigine Valley benchmark so having to back off your overclock for a certain game is not uncommon.

    To post a screenshot,

    1) Hit the PRTSC key
    2) Open paint and click paste (you can crop the picture if you like)
    3) At the top of paint, click the purple floppy disc and save to your pictures
    4) In this chat box click the square (Insert Image), click From Computer then click Choose File
    5) In your pictures click on the picture, then at the bottom click Open
    6) Click Upload Files

And here is your screenshot, I'm curious of your Max GPU Boost Clock.

    Thanks for the help!
I managed to boost clock speed up to 1815mhz without getting dots what so ever. After i pumped it up from 1820+ but im starting to get a lot more at least in 3dMark. Memory clock is also a bit lower 9200 and if i try to go over 9250+ the benchmark just crash. My last question is what is the reason that i cannot go over 1820-1830mhz clock speed because i read other posts from members and they seem like getting 1850mhz without any worries. The max temp i got is 69C which i think is fine.

    Thank you

If you take notice in the first screenshot on the right with the graph, your Max GPU Boost Clock is 2088MHz which is very good.

9200MHz on the memory is very good too, that's a whopping 1.2GHz overclock.

This all looks great to me Kradeca_

    1070 oc

    Hey,
I've been getting some artifacting and a lot of D3D crashing lately. Sadly I think it's my 1070 O8G's Memory that could be dying..
Have you got some GPU Tweak settings that are relatively stable? it has the Micron memory.

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Malte

EDIT: for others who have the same problem, i will be testing over the next weeks how it goes but its much more stable now. Literally turn all settings down.

    Boost Clock: 1744
    Memory Clock: 7958
    Power Target: 90
