You're welcome
Unfortunately, you'll have to back off the clocks a little or just use OC Mode for Battlefield 5.
What is your maximum overclock with Unigine Valley?
Post us some screenshots please.

Had to RMA an aio cooler and got the Liqmax II 240, with this extra spare I decided to slap it on my 1070 with some zip ties (and of course some heatsinks + fan). New stable OC on 1080p is 2214mhz core, 4707 mhz mem. Achieved top 2 spot on superposition ranking (though not published). When running 4k bench clocks drop to 2150-2175ish due to power limit. Temps peak at 40-42 with fanspeeds ~800 rpm. Stock cooler at 100% fan speed would peak at 52-54 celsius with ambient temp being 5-10 degrees lower that what I am running with AIO now. Dropping temps by 10 degrees seems to give 50-75mhz extra clockspeed when boosting.

Wow that is amazing, by doing that you went from a golden Strix 1070 to a platinum Strix 1070. I haven't seen anyone hit 2200MHz+ on the core, you are the first and only one in this long thread.
Very very nice Leeta, would like to see some screenshots if/when you have time.
Thank you !Last edited by Nate152; 07-23-2019 at 06:34 AM.

Core clock = 2215MHz
Memory clock = 9418MHz
That is extraordinary, thank you for sharing !

Double sided thermal tape managed to slip off one of the memory chips and I got errors within minutes of gaming. I'd say if you decide to hybrid mod a GPU then heatsinks + fan are essential. Funniest part is that stock 1070 strix does not have a heatsink on 2 memory chips (because it shares PCB design with 1060) so I wonder if that reduces memory OC headroom when running stock.

Sorry for a late reply,
As far as most of the Strix 1070's can overclock the memory, it doesn't seem to be an issue. There are one or two here with Micron memory that can only overclock 100MHz - 200MHz but the majority of them can hit a 1000MHz+ overclock. The ones with Samsung memory can overclock 1400MHz+. Mine has Samsung memory and is just shy of 1400MHz.
I would think these memory clocks are pretty much the limits of the memory so I don't think those two memory chips not being cooled is a problem.
It's good to know though, thank you for pointing it out.

Hi deanthfc
Welcome to the ROG forum !
You have an excellent overclocking ROG Strix 1070.
Max GPU Boost clock - 2126MHz
Max Memory clock - 9334MHz
Under 70c, as expected with the ROG Strix 1070 temps are superb too.
Nice job you did great, thank you for posting your results.
