Can you enter the BIOS? Is the hard drive were the OS is, it is recognized by the BIOS? Do you have dual booting? If so, Windows boot manager should be listed first so you can boot to the OS you want. Another reason the OS will not boot if there are errors in the master boot record. If you do not have way to recover, you may need to reinstall Windows 7 and try to upgrade again. Alternatively, you should attempt Windows 10 installation from USB drive. All should be able to do if the BIOS recognize the hard drive and this hard drive has not failed. I do not think Windows update only will render hard drive no bootable. Board is not issue only unless a good hard drive is not recognized by the BIOS. If the hard drive is present in the BIOS, unable to boot can happen too if MBR become corrupted and repair should fix it. If you are unable to do clean install even with Windows 7, you should reformat hard drive. That should fix MBR issues and retry clean install.

The machine boots just fine with a functional boot disk and a functional Win 10 - until MS downloads an update. I am reasonably certain it has nothing to do with any MB functions. Drivers (perhaps), but not the MB. Then it no longer boots. This occurred on two different boot drives that ran Win 10.

My original running Win10 C drive was running fine for a couple of weeks. Then the update; and it no longer booted. I built a new C drive on a different device by restoring an older backup of the installed Win10. Booted and ran fine, until it was rebooted after MS downloaded something. I now have two drives that will not boot that ran just fine before MS screwed with my machine.

That is very strange. I have updated my system with MS update with no booting issues so far, thanks to God. No Windows has done that only if dual booting and boot manager changed and needed to be fixed. Do you recall the date of that update or information? I suggest doing a clean install by reformatting the hard drive. Install Windows 10 and keep track the build and the information of Windows updates. That way, you could pin point, which one is causing problems.

    Unknown device in device manager

Are people still experiencing problems with bios 1902 and unknown device in device manager (ACPI\PNP0A0B\2&DABA3FF&0). I've found this is actually a duplicate of ACPI fixed feature button driver in system devices.
I've received a reply from asus tech support today advising me to revert to bios 1801.
Has reverting back to bios 1801 fixed this issue for anyone?

As you said, hopefully someone from ASUS will check into this, but please, soon.
    Hi,

I'm one of the guys that had that problem, with BIOS prior to 1701, with Gskill Ripjaws V DDR4-2800MHz 2x8GB (F4-2800C15D-16GVR) kit.

Today, before change the memory kit, I flashed my MB with BIOS 2001, and check again if this issue is still happening, and yes...it was!

Then, I've changed my memory to a new kit I bought, and that was the Gskill Trident Z DDR4-3000MHz 2x8GB (F4-3000C15D-16GTZ).

After installed this new kit, the MB run smooth and without any issue described above!

The Gskill Ripjaws V DDR4-2800MHz 2x8GB (F4-2800C15D-16GVR) was in the initial QVL List of this MB, and I can't understand why Asus doesn't do nothing to fix this, even after so many people claimed about this situation!
