Hey all,
So I got three Samsung SM961 256GB M.2 drives today. I thought I would have a little fun to see what this board could do.
One stick for every day usage is more than enough. A person will not do enough sustained read/writes to notice the difference. However if you have some videos that need to be edited/rendered it seems that 2 of these m.2 drive in RAID 0 is the sweet spot.
Notice how there seems to be a bottleneck as the numbers drop when going from 2 to 3 m.2s.
Overall I'm very impressed how two of these work in RAID 0.
Test Setup:
- All SM961 were on a m.2 to PCI-e card and in a PCI-e slot running at x4.
- There was a Samsung 950 in the dedicated m.2 slot.
- Motherboard is the Asus Rampage Extreme Edition 10
- RAID arrays setup via Windows 10 Disk Management
- I have a single 1070 GPU running at x16 and an Intel 5930k (40 lanes) running
