Sonic Studio won't open in WIndows 10 v1607

If a clean install doesn't fix it then ASUS should figure it out on their end.

It seems it works for HERO Alpha but not the Maximus.

I mean it doesn't really matter if you're using an older driver for something like sound so it's not all that bad.

Having the same issue... I have your Asus Hero Alpha
OS Ver: Win10 V1607

Downloaded Realtek driver from Asus support page (V6017629) and SS2 was working fine.
Updated Realteck driver from Asus support page (V6017786) and SS2 UI will not load (but running in system tray)

Note: updated BIOS to V1902 did not help.

I did find some info in <Device Manager> by going into properties of <Sound input & output>, under <Events> tab, :
Device HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0900&SUBSYS_10438691& REV_1000\4&3d4356c&0&0001 requires further installatin

Bummer, that means the issue is going to be config or board dependent then. I went back and re-read this thread from page one and it looks like Maximus VIII Hero Alpha users are the ones reporting it works fine. I didn't even see what board you have Terepin and you have no system specs posted. Also, as a friendly tip: if you actually have this issue and want it fixed, when the forum admin asks what version numbers you have tried ((as Bahz did over a week ago) just respond. He can get that info to the software team.

Hopefully ASUS can get a patch around for those of you that have this issue.

I have Windows 10 with 1607, 14393.67, Sonic 2 is working fine, finally, and thanks to God, I am able to go in. Before, I was not. I noticed Windows was updated. People had troubles with Cam. I think the 67 fixed that issue and ours definitely. I did not need to reinstall Windows. I was not looking forward to that.

i have a Asus Hero Alpha and i am having the problem also. none of the steps listed have worked for me. i am not going to reload windows that isn't a reasonable fix to me. hope windows or asus release a fix soon

Same issue here on Ranger VIII. Newest updates of Win10 installed and SS2 will not open from tray/desktop no matter which version I install.

ASUS please look into this, as we are locked out of some of the main features on our motherboards.

Alright so i also reinstalled windows. then i wanted to install the new audio drivers from Realtek and sonic studio.
The installer first had to delete the previous ones and restart.
Then it just wouldn't install for some reason and when you try again it will again deinstall previous version.
(I found out that when connected to internet Windows will automatically install the drivers very fast when you reboot.

My solution:
Just disable internet/Wi-Fi run the installer ( it will reboot etc. and it's done.)

(EDIT) Also:
When downloading the .zip before unzipping. Right mouseclick and DESELECT the blocker (right bottom corner)
(for some weird reason ASUS protects all their files) Then unzip. and run as administrator.
and also do the above.
